Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the delivery charge?

Delivery charges are calculated off distance, volume and number of trips to complete delivery.  Please call or email for a delivery quote for your specific project.

What type of truck do you use for delivery?

Deliveries are made using a walking floor trailer or a dump truck. Typically we will use a dump truck for residential neighborhoods or sites with limited maneuverability.

What to consider when choosing  a location for  mulch delivery?

Dump trucks cannot raise the bed to dump if there are overhead limbs or powerlines.  If you are unsure of a suitable location for mulch to be dumped you can text/email a picture of your delivery site and we can try to offer some guidance based on your specific circumstances.

Is your mulch treated?

Our mulch is not treated with herbicides or pesticides.  Our dyed mulch is colored with an environmentally safe, water based colorant.

Why do I need to allow 24 hours for dry time with dyed mulch?

Dyed mulch requires 24 hours of dry time to prevent color runoff.  As a precaution, do not install dyed mulch within 24 hours of expected rainfall.  This would also include turning your sprinkler system off during this time frame.

Do you offer install?

We do offer bulk mulch installation thru a third-party contractor.  Install is based on availability.

How much is a cubic yard of mulch and how much space will it cover?

A cubic yard of mulch contains 27 cubic feet.  The space it can cover will vary depending on how deep you plan to mulch.  A 9x9 foot area mulched at 4 inches deep would use approximately 1 cubic yard of mulch whereas a 9x9 foot area mulched only 2 inches deep would require approximately a half of that.  Please refer to our mulch calculator for an estimate on how many cubic yards your project will require.

What is the recommended depth to lay mulch?

When deciding the depth for your mulch, a general rule is to maintain a 2 to 3-inch layer of mulch after settling.  With this in mind, you may want to start with a 4-inch layer over newly covered areas.

Should I remove old mulch prior to installing new mulch?

There is no need to remove last years mulch.  Mulch will gradually break down over time adding nutrients and organic matter to the soil underneath.  The rule of thumb is to lay your mulch 4 inches deep on the initial install and then add approximately 2 inches of mulch annually to maintain a well-kept appearance.
